The Good German is not so good. I thought it was going to be a type of gritty Schindlers List. You know, a B&W movie with realism. Well this movie mixes realism with overly dramactic acting. One scene I could have sworn came straight out of Casablanca. I hate saying this becuase I am a fan of most of the actors - George Clooney, Kate Blanchet and Toby Macguire.

This film was very refreshing. It demonstrated the complexity of war and culture. This could have perhaps been a nominee for best foreign film, except for the fact that it is a project by Clint Eastwood and Steven Speilberg. Maybe it could be a nominee for best foreign language film.

Helen Mirren does an excellent job selling her self as conflicted royalty. I beleive that she is yet another Academy Award nominee.

This one caught me by surprise.
I wouldn’t consider myself a country music fan, but this movie allowed me to appreciate The Dixie Chicks music.
The is based around anti-war comments made while touring in England. The band undergoes a metamorphosis due to rejection of the country music industry and thousands of their former fans.
In the end it turns out that it was the best thing that could have happened to their careers.

This movie is so incredibly done.
The whole movie leads up to what I feel is the most powerful scene that I have watched in decades.
This should receive a best film award.

Forest Whitaker has finally arrived!
He is doing great as a Internal Affairs cop on The Sheild, however I did not expect him to be this great in Last King of Scotland.
This has my personal recommendation.

This is an interesting film about a family being stalked via hidden video camera. The family goes to the police but they will not respond till something actually happens to one of them.
There really is no action in the film just some intrigued that keeps you interested. There is an intense scene close to the end. At least the womans scream a few rows behind me made it intense.
The end lets you draw your own conculsions. I beleive the film is a commentary on French racism towards Arab. Like I said, the film lets you draw your own conclusions.

A special reccomendation.
This documentary is on DVD.

It’s a touching documentary about an unlikely small town school and the impact their Holocaust project has on thousands around the world.

It’s important to see this film.
Not just becuase it gives an articulate debate for and against violence. But rather because a film from this vantage point is rare.
The strength of this film is the slow and patient character development. Nothing special or ominous was discovered about them. Which was the point.
The film portrayed them as average humans struggling with a problem. Themselves.

Jarhead is not an independent film.
But it is a Damn good movie and for the most part was written and filmed good enough to be an independent film.
Don’t look for a great deal of action.
Quite a few crtitics are not on board with this film, but I am.
Jake Gyllenhaal is on his way to an award.
